Marlene Munroe de Montigny, B.F.A.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Marlene Munroe de Montigny was born in New Brunswick and raised in New Brunswick and Québec City.
She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Université du Québec before going on to study at the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts (M.I.T.).
She taught at the Fine Arts faculty of the Université du Québec. In 1993, Amnesty International chose one of her paintings for their poster. This honour was the subject of international television and radio interviews.
She had a studio in Vence, France, for eleven years and worked in Boca Raton, Florida, in her own studio/gallery for five years.
Her paintings have been exhibited in Montréal, Québec City, and Trois-Rivières, Québec, Boca Raton, Palm Beach and Vence, France. Marlene has had two solo museum shows in Québec, Canada.
She has studied many of the great masters and is inspired by their insights. Artist, Alice Neel wrote; “The road that I pursued and the road that I think keeps you an artist, is that no matter what happens to you, you still keep painting.”
Marlene is now living and painting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, where she is inspired by the beauty of the parks and gardens.
